Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight's episode will be fallout from the Forbidden Door event and the important things that went down at that show. For this particular episode of Dynamite, the two biggest hooks are the title matches. Starting off the show seems to be the AEW World Championship bout with Maxwell Jacob Friedman defending against Mark Briscoe. Every time Briscoe has hit the Jay Driller, MJF hasn't been able to kick out. That includes this past Sunday at Forbidden Door, which netted Briscoe's team the win in their Death's Door steel cage match to earn this title shot. Sadly, Briscoe is not going to win the championship. By hook or by crook, MJF is going to retain. He's either heading into All In as the champion, or he's dropping the belt to Kenny Omega at AEW Redemption. Briscoe being next in line would shock me, as I can't see it being Briscoe vs. Will Ospreay in London.
Ospreay of course won the Owen Hart Cup, as did Mercedes Mone, so those wins will be touched upon, as well as all the champions retaining their titles and such.
It'll all wrap up with a Survival of the Fittest elimination match to crown the new TBS champion, vacated by Willow Nightingale. Out of the lineup of Harley Cameron, Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Maika, Persephone, and Queen Aminata, I think it's safe to say Maika and Persephone won't likely win, but the rest are kind of up in the air. I wouldn't place a bet on Cameron, to be honest. I'm more so leaning toward Shida than anyone else, but Statlander would work, and Aminata could be in line for a step up the hierarchy. Tough call.
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite - July 1, 2026:
- Singles Match for the AEW World Championship: MJF (c) retained over Mark Briscoe by pinfall. After the match, MJF hit Briscoe with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Kenny Omega came out and challenged him to a match right then and there. MJF declined, but presented an offer that expires by the end of the night: he'll put the title on the line against Omega next week, but if Omega loses, he forfeits the ability to fight for the title ever again just like "Hangman" Adam Page.
- After the commercial break, MJF cut a great interview promo about all the people he's beaten and how Kenny Omega is "literally gutless" and he'll see Will Ospreay in Wembley.
- Tony Schiavone then interviewed Andrade El Idolo, who was jumped from behind by The Don Callis Family.
- Kevin Knight retained the AEW TNT Championship over Lio Rush by pinfall. After the match, Darby Allin came out to say he wants a TNT title match and if Knight doesn't accept, he's not going to stop going after him. Don Callis rejected the offer on Knight's behalf, saying Allin should be in prison for what he did to Knight at Forbidden Door, so Allin's not over with Knight by a long shot.
- The Elite were talking about the stipulation presented to Omega. If he takes the match, he doesn't want any help.
- Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay defeated The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson)
- Adam Copeland explained to Christian Cage that Jay White owed him a favor and now that he helped them against The Dogs at Forbidden Door, they're even. Cage still doesn't like White.
- White cut a promo to the crowd about being back and going after David Finlay.
- Survival of the Fittest Elimination Match for the Vacant TBS Championship: Hikaru Shida vs Harley Cameron vs Kris Statlander vs Queen Aminata vs Persephone vs Maika — Shida won the title, with the elimination order being Cameron (by Persephone), Maika (by Shida), Aminata (by Persephone), Persephone (by Statlander) and Shida ultimately winning after getting some help from Persephone.
- Kenny Omega accepted MJF's stipulation and will face him for the AEW World Championship next week at Beach Break under the condition that if Omega loses, he will never be able to fight for the world title again.
