Just days after he made his debut on AEW Dynamite, Matt Hardy was a guest on the Talk is Jericho Podcast, and the one-time member of Team Extreme was very open and honest about his time in WWE, as well as the reasons he ultimately decided to leave.

Hardy said that his decision to leave the company ultimately came down to his creative freedom being stifled. He said WWE started to "take the fun out” of wrestling for him, and he realized that he didn't want to spend his last few years as an in-ring competitor on the sidelines.

Hardy also said that if someone else had been in charge (ie, not Vince McMahon), he may have stuck around. It seems Vince never really understood the "Broken" gimmick, which is why fans got such a watered down version of the character in WWE.
