The AEW roster continues to expand, with former WWE Superstar Andrade El Idolo one of the most recent, exciting additions to the company. Despite finding great success in NXT, he was misused on the main roster and seemed glad to escape Vince McMahon's control.
Of course, the slightly awkward thing is that his fiancee, Charlotte Flair, is still very much part of WWE. However, following Ric Flair's recent release, Dave Meltzer shed some light on Andrade's hopes for the future on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
"I would expect that he’s gonna wind up in AEW," he said of the Nature Boy. "I don’t know that he’s going to AEW but I can’t imagine him not being in AEW, especially right now."
"Andrade has told people that he wants the whole family there. By the family it’s Rush, Bestia [666], Dragon Lee, him, Ashley, Ric, that’s what he wants. Ashley, I don’t know her. I certainly am not gonna speak for her [but] I sense that she wants to be in WWE, that it’s the big leagues to her but I don’t know. It would be a big perception get [for AEW] and I also don’t know when her contract ends."
It's worth noting that back in 2019, both Andrade and Charlotte filed trademarks for the names despite still being employed by WWE. Now, if she leaves the company, we could see, "Ashley Flair," "The Queen of Wrestling." Something tells us big changes could be coming when that contract expires...
