Is Eddie Kingston back?

Saturday’s Collision was full of surprises. Perhaps the biggest one was when Big Bill called out the former ROH World Champion.

This is quite surprising news.

Kingston was injured during his Last Man Standing match against Gabe Kidd in May 2024. He suffered a leg injury, which required surgery for a fractured tibia, torn ACL, and meniscus tear.

It’s been over a year since the injured and it didn’t sound like Eddie was any closer to being cleared, at least according to the AEW star back in June.

"I am not there [when asked if he’s closer to returning to the ring by Mike Johnson at PWInsider]. "I have started running in the ring. I am still doing physical therapy and I am mentally better. Yet again, as people know, it's a struggle, but being able to be in the ring again and work out with PT and working out with Cezar [Bononi] is helping my mental health, let alone my body. I can finally feel the ball is moving in the right direction"

The 43-year-old has given some updates since then and though the optimism still continued, Kingston’s focus seemed to be just getting cleared.

“My job, right now, is to be ready for when it’s time. You never know when that call is,” he stated. “Then the guy who books the show has to book a fight. People have to say yes… It’s not just me being ready to rock and roll. It’s nobody’s fault; it’s a business. It happens. When it’s time, when I get cleared, when the fight is booked, when everything is good to go, you will know.”

Could that time be All Out 2025?

There’s still no word on whether Kingston has been cleared or if he’s on his way to getting the approval. Either way, it’s pretty big for the inaugural Continental Champion to be called out as it means that he’s definitely stepping back into the ring some time soon. Eddie Kingston vs. Big Bill likely wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card, but it will be great to see Eddie have a mic in his hand again. For now, he seems to be coming back as a babyface, which is how he left off last year. One can hope that him and Bill can create some magic during their feud.
