It’s been one year since Chris Bey’s tragic injury.
To recall, the TNA Wrestling star suffered a severe neck injury that almost left the former TNA World Tag Team Champion paralyzed. Thankfully, Bey has been able to make progress since that unfortunate incident and the wrestling community has been extremely helpful throughout Bey’s road to recovery.
When the 29-year-old talked about the possibility of returning recently on Talk is Jericho, Bey was pretty optimistic about returning to the sport in the future. However, he noted that his concern was simply to wake up physically and mentally healthy.
“After the surgery, I thought I’d never wrestle again, and I was fine with that. But now I think maybe one day I’ll be able to do it again, just not anytime soon. When I think about wrestling, it’s not really about coming back full-time. It’s more about finishing my story my way. Whether that means one more match or one more program, I’d like to end it right.”
Now Chris Bey reflected on the incident that put him on the shelf for a good period of time. On instagram, Chris talked about his love for the sport and thanks everyone who’s been there to support and help him.
“Wrestling has always been my life LONG before I made it a career. Since I was 3 I’ve been addicted and I’ve known this was what I wanted to do with my life. Rarely does one get to chase and achieve their dreams. If this was to be the end of my journey, I had no regrets in the decisions I’ve made that led me to this moment. Had a lot of conversations with God, and understanding that I was still alive for a purpose made me push everyday with an unimaginable strength and drive. The support of my amazing girlfriend, the best tag team partner ever, TNA and the entire wrestling world kept me feeling like I mattered and I was cared about. I’m so grateful and thankful for all of it. The work from doctors and staff, top notch. Today, I celebrate life because a year ago I thought it was the end of mine. Greatest Story Ever Told is far from over. I love you all. – Chris.”
It's a shame that Chris Bey had to suffer such a horrific injury as he was really talented. Hopefully, he can make his return to the ring someday, but it's great that he's being so positive over his situation.
