35 Years of Chris Jericho!

Yesterday, the inaugural AEW World Champion celebrated 35 years in the wrestling business. Whether it was ECW, WCW, WWE, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and AEW, Chris Jericho has delighted fans across the globe and released a statement about his long career and guaranteed that more was to come.

Crazy to think it’s been 35 years to the day of my VERY FIRST MATCH! I faced Lance Storm in Ponoka, Alberta, at the Ponoka Moose Hall, in front of about 85 people. I have had a wonderful, amazing, one-in-a-million career since then, and the good news is….IT AIN’T OVER YET!

Does that mean Chris Jericho will be returning some time soon?

At the moment, it’s unknown when Chris Jericho is expected to return to AEW television. The last time that Jericho was seen was back in early April. He teased coming back as he left off that he wanted Big Bill and Bryan Keith to change before he returns, but there’s been no clues on when he’ll appear on AEW television again.

Interesting enough, Chris Jericho in contract year with AEW as his deal is reportedly ending in December. The former AEW World Champion has stated in the past that he would have no problems rejoining the WWE if the opportunity presents itself.

It’s been rumored that WWE is interested in bringing back Chris Jericho, though the nature of a possible role is uncertain. It’s unknown if Tony Khan plans to re-sign the 54-year-old. However, he did update fans about the status of the first AEW World Champion and he seemed very open to re-signing Jericho.

"Yeah, I think Chris is certainly one of the most important stars ever in AEW." Tony Khan said on The Sportster. He's the first-ever AEW World Champion. And for me, I think Chris is one of the very foundational stars from the very beginning of the company. If possible, I'd love to have Chris back as soon as possible. We'll see when Chris returns, but I think Chris is someone we always love having in AEW, and the door is always open for his return

He's been a big star for us, and he also has a lot of things going on outside of pro wrestling. Whether it's acting or his music career, he's doing a lot of great things," Khan said. "But when he's in AEW, he's always been a key piece and a multiple-time world champion across multiple promotions, including AEW. So definitely always thinking the best of Chris, and uh, would be excited to get his return."

Will Chris Jericho return to AEW? Only time will tell.
