Tonight's episode of AEW Dynamite opened with the return of Chris Jericho, who has been off All Elite Wrestling television for roughly a year.
In similar fashion to what he did in the past with one of his WWE returns, Jericho proceeded to say nothing and just listen to the Winnipeg crowd, for several minutes. He then finally stated "Winnipeg, AEW, I'm home" to end the segment.
There had been much speculation that Jericho would leave AEW in favor of a return to WWE, with many pointing to events like the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania as potential times when he would pop up. The idea of his contract being extended was also a talking point in the rumor mill surrounding where Jericho would end up next, only for him to decide to stay put. Whether or not he addresses where he left off with The Learning Tree or starts focusing on something else, likely using his newly trademarked nickname of "Cornerstone", remains to be seen.
Darby Allin vs. Andrade El Idolo Set for AEW Dynasty
In other news from tonight's episode of Dynamite, Darby Allin has been granted a match at the upcoming AEW Dynasty pay-per-view (April 12th) which can put him in line to achieve his goal of becoming AEW world champion.
Allin has made it his mission to go after MJF's title and will get the opportunity to do so if he is able to defeat Andrade El Idolo at the event, who was hand-picked by MJF as part of a deal with The Don Callis Family.
That puts the current lineup for AEW Dynasty at the following matches so far:
- Singles Match for the AEW World Championship: Maxwell Jacob Friedman (c) vs. Kenny Omega
- Singles Match: Darby Allin vs. Andrade El Idolo — Stipulation: If Darby Allin wins, he gets a future AEW World Championship title match against the winner of MJF and Omega
- AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (c) (with Stokely) vs. Cope and Cage (Adam Copeland and Christian Cage)
- Non-Title Match: AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley vs. Will Ospreay
Who would you like to see feud with Chris Jericho next, or where you'd like to see that story go from his return? Do you think Darby Allin will win his potential title shot against MJF or come up short at Dynasty? Drop your comments below to keep the discussion going!
