Christian Cage is proud of his AEW run.

After seven years, Christian made his shocking return at the 2021 Royal Rumble. Though he has an Unsanctioned match listed in 2020, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was pretty much squashed by Randy Orton.

So when Christian joined AEW later that year, it was pretty shocking since it seemed that the former WWE star would be making his return to WWE full time.

But Christian came into AEW and he’s pulled off a surprising run that's arguably one of the best of his career. His babyface run was solid, yet unspectacular, but when Mr. Cage starting talking about dead fathers then that’s when business picked up.

Speaking to Raj Prashad of Yahoo’s Uncrowned, Christian told the reporter that this is the best run of his career thus far.

“This is, without a doubt, the greatest, the best run,” Christian said. “Did I see it happening this late? No, but it did. And like I said, when I got my career back after being gone for seven years, I wasn’t coming back to do the greatest hits tour. I was coming back to be the best. And that’s the kind of standards that I hold myself to. Anything less than that, you would not see me step foot in that ring.”

During the interview, Christian also talks about reuniting Adam Copeland and he understands how much this means to fans.

“I think that people have wanted this since [Cope] debuted in AEW, and were maybe hoping it would happen," Cage tells Uncrowned. "Obviously, we were both at different stages of our career, had a lot of things on my plate as far as what I was dealing with and being the greatest TNT champion of all-time at the point in time when [Cope] came in.

“It's a big moment for the fans and I think they're excited about it. I know it means a lot. And that's the cool thing about AEW in some instances — they're very much for the pro wrestling fan, and try to give what they want to the fan.”

Check out the full interview where Cage talks about his time in Patriarchy, pushing the envelope further and further with his promos, and whether he expected his dead father bit with Jack Perry to catch on as it did. It’s really a great read as it nicely gave more insight into the former TNT Champion.
