What’s going on with Dakota Kai?
The former WWE star has been pretty quiet since her shocking release back in May. Kai’s 90 days is up so she’s free to wrestle anywhere that she pleases, but the 37-year-old hasn’t had a match since March 24, 2025, which was a Main Event bout against Ivy Nile.
So is Dakota Kai retired? That is a natural assumption, especially since Kai was injured a lot during her second tenure with WWE. Now Kai did release a statement following her WWE release.
“Trying to get through all the messages and man, whether it’s from friends, family, colleagues, coaches, you guys… I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” said Kai. “That’s the stuff that matters. I got to make memories, create the best friendships and travel the world. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunities. Gonna take a little time but just know… we are far from done. I’ve BEEN ready. Let’s go.”
But the former WWE star hasn’t called it quits just yet. Apparently, Kai did allude to taking a break in her first statement, but she directly answered this on a live stream charliegirl earlier this month. She’s not retired, but she is taking a break from the business momentarily (Transcript courtesy of ITR).
“I miss wrestling you guys. We’re gonna get back into it. It’s just one of those things where it’s been nice to have a little bit of a break. I’ve been doing it for a long time, longer than the last seven years I was with WWE, you know what I mean? So it is nice to take a step back and all but I really do miss it.”
Where could Dakota Kai end up next? Only time will tell. The former WWE star hasn’t stated when she plans on returning to the ring nor has she expressed any interest in going to another company outside of WWE. Kai’s a talented performer, so she shouldn’t have a hard time to find a new home once she decides to put back on the boots. We'll surely keep you updated when the news drops about her return.
