Darby Allin To Defend AEW World Championship Every Week Going Forward

Tonight's episode of AEW Dynamite started off with Maxwell Jacob Friedman complaining about the circumstances revolving around how he lost the AEW World Championship last week to Darby Allin.

MJF had not even watched Allin's match against Andrade El Idolo at AEW Dynasty which granted Allin the next title shot, nor did he know that the match would happen on Dynamite. When he first arrived to the arena last week, he was informed by Renee Paquette and nearly had to wrestle Allin right then and there, but was able to hold off until the main event. Allin quickly got the victory on him over a low blow, a series of Coffin Drops, and a headlock takeover.

Allin complained that he wasn't 100%, that he didn't get a chance to prepare, referee Aubrey Edwards gave a fast count, and essentially demanded that he be given back the title. "The Jet" Kevin Knight came out to call out how ridiculous that is, leading to a war of words between them which led to a match scheduled for next week with MJF getting an opportunity to win the AEW TNT Championship after belittling it as a secondary title.

But that's not the only belt on the line next week, as Darby Allin will also defend the AEW World Championship.

MJF interrupted Allin's promo to once again demand to be awarded the championship, only to be rejected for even having a rematch. Allin said that he would not give MJF another shot at the title until MJF put something on the line as well, and that unlike MJF, there are a lot of people in the locker room who actually deserve title opportunities. Allin then said that that would be his plan going forward, to defend the title every week until he drops it.

After a hard-earned victory over Tommaso Ciampa, Allin wasn't even off the mat yet before his next challenger stepped up to the plate, as Brody King came out to help Allin up and to fill him in on what he just spoke to Tony Khan about. With Allin's permission, King has challenged to have next week's opportunity for the title. Allin accepted the challenge, booking that match for the April 29th edition of Dynamite to come.

What do you think of Allin's run becoming a weekly open challenge? Who do you think will eventually beat him for the title? Drop a comment below with your thoughts!
