Is Britt Baker ever returning to AEW?

Britt Baker has not had a match on AEW television since the November 13th edition of Dynamite. At that time, it was believed that Baker was off AEW programming due to filming commitments outside of the promotion, but the rumors have suggested that Baker’s time off of AEW has something to do with the backstage heat she’s received in her recent return to television.

It was reported back in July that Baker was trying to opt out of her AEW contract. But there were plenty of talents who refuted that claim. Tony Khan even addressed an update on Britt Baker’s status on The Takedown on SI by shooting down the departure rumors and stating that there are only so many open positions on each show.

“We have a great group of wrestlers that have not necessarily been on the show a lot, or even in some cases at all in 2025, that are very talented and we would like to work back in when the opportunity presents itself.”

Baker has continued to remain off of television, with no signs of returning anytime soon. From the outside, nobody knows what’s going on with the former AEW Women’s World Champion and DDP took to social media to question when the Dr. will return to AEW programming.

Tony Khan has yet to respond. Reportedly, Baker’s contract with AEW ends in late 2026/early 2027, so Baker has a long way to go before being able to leave the promotion unless Tony opts to release the former AEW Women’s World Champion from her deal.

Baker has been completely silent as of late regarding anything AEW related. She’s regularly active on her social media, though that’s mainly personal stuff. It’s up in the air as to when she’ll make her AEW return. The 34-year-old was on top of the world in 2021/2022 when she ruled the women’s division for 290 days.

Even after Baker dropped the AEW Women’s World title to Thunder Rosa, she continued to be a prominent figure on AEW programming until she suffered a back injury in 2023. Then in early 2024, she suffered a mini stroke that delayed her return even further. She eventually came back for All in to challenge Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship, but Baker failed to beat the AEW star at the big show.
