The Anthony Bowens/Max Caster saga gets more complicated.
Anthony Bowens is not happy. He’s been taking out his frustration and anger on his former tag team partner, Max Caster. For the past several weeks, the 34-year-old has taken every chance he could get to punch his fists onto Caster’s face. And that was no different on Collision as the fight between the former AEW World Tag Team Champions spilled from backstage to the arena.
Jerry Lynn had enough of these two fighting and broke it up. Lynn tried to rationalize why these two need each other, specifically noting that their singles careers have gone nowhere. Then Blake Christian and Lee Johnson tried to intervene.
They picked a fight with Jerry Lynn and Caster stood up for the ECW legend, with Bowens getting out of the way. But Christian and Johnson got the better of them. Bowens came back into the ring and The Acclaimed cleaned house of Christian and Johnson. The Acclaimed is back! Well, somewhat.
Caster and Bowens weren’t thrilled about this. They each expressed that in a backstage segments.
And Bowens especially vented his frustration again on Twitter by replying to a user who saying that the former AEW World Tag Team Champion is underrated.
“I get overlooked bc I’ve never had an opportunity to go 20-30 minutes or more with someone in AEW. That is really when you start to earn your stripes. You can’t make a determination without giving people the chance to prove you wrong.”
There’s definitely some truth to Bowens words, but he just hasn’t worked out as a babyface. Though to be fair, AEW has really given him a feud to sink his teeth into beyond the Max Caster stuff.
On the other hand, Max Caster got over accidentally after a string of his five minute challenges. However, despite getting over, AEW didn’t seem to have much interest in pushing him further up the card. The Acclaimed reuniting as a tag team is actually beneficial to both men.
Are you excited to see the return of the Acclaimed?
