One of the biggest developments on this most recent episode of All Elite Wrestling's Dynamite took place in the gauntlet match to determine who would become the No. 1 contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
After The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) defeated The Natural Nightmares (QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes) by pinfall, they were set to face Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent).
Just as it seemed The Young Bucks had the victory in their hands, "Hangman" Adam Page appeared ringside and grabbed Nick Jackson's foot, holding him back from being able to execute the Meltzer Driver. That allowed Matt to get rolled up in the confusion and lose to Best Friends, who went on to then lose to FTR.
Later in the night, Dasha Gonzalez found Page at the bar and asked him why he cost them the match. The Young Bucks angrily came over and asked if he did it because he was afraid of fighting them again. Then, they clarified they just wanted a friend, and he was good enough for them this entire time, but he's proven himself time and time again to be nothing but a drunk. Ever since November, they've been trying to hang on to a partnership that didn't really exist, so they're done with him. They announced that he's no longer part of The Elite and slammed the door on him, breaking a mirror in the process.
This further fuels speculation that Page is aligned with FTR and will join them and Tully Blanchard as well as we can assume Shawn Spears to form this new incarnation or spiritual successor stable to The Four Horsemen. However, the story could be that Page is tempted to go in that route, but really does value his friendship with The Young Bucks more.
FTR will face Page and Kenny Omega on September 5th at All Out for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
Who do you think is walking out with the belts? Will Page fully turn heel, or is this all a ruse?
