Adam “Hangman” Page is the new AEW World Champion.
For 273 days, Jon Moxley and The Death Riders terrorized the AEW locker room as the world title was held hostage inside of a briefcase. But The Hangman finally cracked the code and overcame the odds at All In. All In saw big returns from Bryan Danielson and Darby Allin, who aided in Page’s quest to become a two-time world champion.
Page went through hell and back just to beat Moxley, but once the Death Rider leader tapped out, a sea of change had finally occurred. Page will walk into tonight’s Dynamite as the new AEW World Champion. And the new world champion will open the show to address the Dynamite audience.
But that isn’t the only thing happening with Page tonight. The former AEW World Champion still has some unfinished business with Page and so Jon Moxley will team with Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli to take on Page, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Mark Briscoe. Can The Death Riders regain the momentum that they lost at All In?
Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone had a women’s match for the ages and the former came out of that battle still the AEW Women’s World Champion. Now that the toughest match of her career is over, Toni looks to the future, but her next challenger won’t be any easier. Athena won the Casino Gauntlet match and has an opportunity to face Toni Storm for her world title. Athena has held the ROH Women’s World Championship for nearly 1000 days. Though she suffered a minor setback by losing to Mercedes Mone in the Owen Hart tournament, the “Fallen Goddess” has managed to regain some of her steam in the past few weeks. What will Toni Storm say following her war with Mercedes Mone? And will Athena meet the world champion face-to-face?
Toni Storm isn’t the only champion who should worry about someone. Page may be dealing with the Death Riders tonight, but MJF is waiting in the wings for his world title match. The former AEW World Champion won the Men’s Casino Gauntlet and MJF won’t waste much time waiting to cash in his opportunity. Will MJF confront the new AEW World Champion during his opening segment?
