We have a new AEW Women's World Champion, as Hikaru Shida managed to defeat Nyla Rose at last night's Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
The Native Beast has dominated and decimated everyone that's crossed her path, but Shida was able to find an answer to Rose's power with her kendo stick, which she was given full use of thanks to the match's no disqualification stipulation.
Nyla almost put her opponent away on several occasions, but Hikaru refused to stay down - even after being powerbombed through a table. Rose was unable to connect with her Beast-Bomb, however, and Shida followed up a vicious kendo stick strike to the head with her patented running knee to finally keep Rose down for the three-count.
Shida has emerged as one of the most popular female stars in the division, and is expected to have a lengthy run with the title.
