Just before AEW Dynamite got underway last night, we got word that Lance Archer had tested positive for coronavirus and would be out of action for a couple of weeks. This obviously put the kibosh on the planned six-man tag match involving The Murderhawk Monster and Jon Moxley, so an AEW Championship match was announced as a replacement.
Eddie Kingston - who knows Mox very well from their days taking lumps out of each other on the indies - stepped up to challenge his old rival, and they ended up having a very hard-hitting encounter. It's impossible to label their brawl a wrestling match, but these guys brought the fight to one another in a big way.
In the end, the Purveyor of Violence was able to force a referee stoppage by locking on his Bulldog Choke submission, but the champ's night was far from over.
The Lucha Bros. hit the ring along with Ricky Starks, and even though Mox did get some backup in the form of Will Hobbs and Darby Allin, the heels dominated and left everyone laying.
