Do Santana and Ortiz talk to one another?
It’s well documented by now that the former TNA World Tag Team Champions had a falling out in the past couple of years. In the past, Santana has spoken about his partnership with Ortiz and stated that they didn’t see eye-to-eye on their future as a tag team.
Santana went solo following his return to AEW and he hasn’t looked back since leaving his former employer. At the moment, Santana’s currently thriving as a single star in TNA and he seems to be primed to win the TNA World Championship soon.
Ortiz recently congratulated Santana on his success, and Santana seemed surprised at first, but thanked his former tag team partner eventually. On a recent episode of Insight, Santana revealed if he’s talked to Ortiz lately and not surprisingly, the two aren’t on speaking terms.
"No. There hasn't been communication on his end, and there hasn't been on my end, you know, and I think, like, I don't know, it's weird," he said.
Santana doesn’t hold anything against his former LAX partner. He wished him good luck in whatever he did following their feud in AEW.
"I'm good on my end. Like I don't hold anything. I don't have, you know — we had our match, our last match, and it went, I feel like it went great. We let out a lot of steam, we spoke afterwards, and I told him, you know, good luck, and I hope the best for you and whatever, and that was it," Santana said. "When I was out, there wasn't any communication either. So it was like, all right, well I guess I know where we are. It is what it is."
Neither man has exactly detailed the pinpoint for their fallout, though it’s quite clear why they didn’t work out in the end. It would be cool to get an LAX/Proud-N-Powerful reunion someday, but that seems unlikely anytime soon.
Nevertheless, Santana is killing it in TNA and it’s only a matter of time before he wins the world title. Ortiz is still stuck waiting for creative to come up with something for him. He wrestles on the independent scene frequently as he’s been cleared for quite some time, but it doesn’t seem that AEW is all that interested in exploring a single story for Ortiz at the moment.
