Apparently, MVP and Mike Bailey do hate each other.
Earlier Wednesday, a scathing report about MVP revealed that the former WWE United States Champion had some heat backstage. According to Fightful, MVP refused to have The Hurt Syndicate drop the AEW World Tag Team titles to FTR. But what really stood out in that report was MVP’s reported dislike of Mike Bailey. There was never a reason given on why the 51-year-old didn’t like Bailey, but the report noted that MVP refused to have Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin lose to JetSpeed.
Well, MVP and Mike Bailey decided to shut down that rumor quickly.
The two AEW stars released a video on Instagram where they jokingly played into the rumors that MVP didn’t like Mike Bailey.
Is this a case of Sean Ross Sapp being fed a bad report? It certainly looks like it. Granted, we’ll never know if there’s any genuine truth to the rumor itself, but it was clear that the Fightful Select report was meant to bury MVP and make him look like the bad guy. It did look fishy that the report emphasized how much MVP disliked Bailey, but there was never a reason given on why.
Nevertheless, both Bailey and MVP had a busy night on Wednesday. The former fought Jon Moxley in the opening match and MVP sealed the fate of MJF’s time in the Hurt Syndicate by kicking out the former AEW World Champion.
It’s certainly a strange choice for AEW to drop the MJF storyline so quickly as it barely got started, but clearly, the Hurt Syndicate and MJF are going in different directions. Hopefully, we find out why this report came out in the first place. As previously stated, the report could likely be true and MVP and Mike Bailey are just downplaying it in public, but it felt like a random attack on MVP’s character. Should more information come out about the MVP saga then we'll report it.
Do you think that report about MVP's backtage heat in AEW are true?
