Revolution saw the crowning of a new champion.
Kenny Omega fought for his first AEW title in nearly two years and he managed to beat Konosuke Takeshita in an incredible match. However, Omega’s work is far from done. Though he’s achieved a huge level of success on Sunday, Omega now has to worry about his potential opponent at Dynasty.
Tony Khan has confirmed an eight-man single elimination tournament and two first round matches are scheduled to take place tonight. The first will see a former two International Champion take on Hechicero.
Orange Cassidy and Kenny Omega had an amazing match with PAC at Double or Nothing 2021, but Cassidy has never fought Omega in a one-on-one match in AEW. The former International Champion put the title on the map in a big way and he’s a viable threat who could beat Omega for the belt. Of course, in the sport of professional wrestling, Hechicero can pull off an upset victory.
In the second tournament match, The Beast Mortos will face a wild card opponent. Given the incredible depth of AEW’s roster, it could be anyone from Adam Cole, Will Ospreay, MJF or even the AEW World Champion himself! Moxley and Omega have a rich history with one another so revisiting that rivalry would ensure great matches. That wildcard will need to beat the always game Beast Mortos though.
Speaking of the AEW World Championship, Moxley overcame the odds and successfully retained his title against Cope and Christian Cage. However, he now needs to worry about Swerve Strickland, who’s on a roll at the moment. What will the AEW World Champion say about his upcoming opponent?
Also, MJF will speak about his match against Hangman Page on Dynamite. The former AEW World Champion failed to beat Page at Revolution and you can guarantee that MJF won’t have positive things to say because of that outcome.
All this and more is confirmed for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Check out the advertised matches below:
