Toni Storm is a fan of Blake Monroe.
Before the NXT star came to the developmental brand in July, Monroe was actually the infamous Mariah May, a former AEW Women’s World Champion who had one of the best feuds in the company’s history.
Starting off as Toni Storm’s lackey in 2023, that relationship grew deeper as months passed, though there were moments where the cracks within it that started to expose just how fake it was. May and Storm’s relationship soured the moment May won the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament; May turned on Storm and an intense rivalry was born that day.
May beat Storm to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion at All In; however, Storm finally got her rematch at Grand Slam Australia and these two finished off their feud in a Hollywood Ending match at Revolution. That was the final time audiences saw Mariah May.
Mariah May has pulled a El Generico and disappeared from the face of the Earth.
Toni Storm spoke to Ariel Helwani about her rivalry with Mariah May and labeled her as the “single most evil, cold-heart b**ch” she’s ever met! However, she’s a big fan of this Blake Monroe character that's heating up Tuesday nights on NXT.
“Well you know, we’ve all had relationships like Mariah. At a point that ended—fights, broken glass, bloody kisses. What can I say about Mariah? She’s the single most evil, cold-hearted b**** I ever met in my life. I’m glad I banished her; I really did compromise her to a permanent end. But I’m a big fan of Blake Monroe. Do I keep tabs? I’ve seen a bit, but I don’t study it religiously. It’s wonderful. Yes, of course it’s positive—she’s gone, she’s not here anymore.”
The Ariel Helwani interview is kind of awkward. Storm is fully in character and it doesn’t seem that Helwani knew how to fully interact with that. Nevertheless, it’s still worth checking out as the AEW Women’s World Champion takes a deep dive into her career beyond AEW.
It’s great that Storm gave a shout to Monroe, who’s currently in the middle of a feud with Jordynne Grace. Monroe hasn't acknowledge the shout out, but it would be surprising if she didn't appreciate the compliment from Toni Storm. Will those two women ever meet again? Unless one person switches companies then it’s highly likely, but this is pro wrestling, so never say never.
