The TBS Championship will be defended at Forbidden Door.
It was confirmed last week that Mercedes Mone will make her official return to Dynamite on this week’s episode.
The last time we saw Mone was at All In, where she and Toni Storm had an absolute classic. It was a barn burner of a match that saw Mone take her first singles loss in AEW. The segment planned for Mone was a speaking one, but Tony Khan just confirmed that it won’t be long until Mone gets back into the ring.
That’s because four women will fight for the opportunity to challenge Mone for the TBS Championship on Dynamite. Queen Aminata, Skye Blue, Alex Windsor, and Billie Starkz are all confirmed for the upcoming match. Mercedes has some history with several of these potential opponents.
During her mini feud with Athena, Billie Starkz got a crack at the TBS Champion, but failed to get one over Mercedes. The 33-year-old has even defended the belt against Queen Aminata on an episode of Dynamite back in October 2024 and she couldn’t get the done as well. The same goes for Skye Blue, who gave a valiant effort back in May 2024. The only woman that Mercedes hasn’t fought for the title is AEW newcomer, Alex Windsor.
On paper, that seems to be the obvious match-up, but there’s no word on what direction AEW is planning to go. Nevertheless, this should still be a really fun match and the outcome has endless possibilities storytelling wise. The four way match joins the semi-final tag team title eliminator bout between The Young Bucks and Brodido (Brody King and Bandido). The upcoming episode of Dynamite is scheduled to be headlined with former ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe taking on former AEW World Champion MJF. Check out the updated card for this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
