This Wednesday looks jam packed!
Fresh off his heel turn at WrestleDream, Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs will defend the AEW Trios Championship against the newly crowned number one contenders - The Hurt Syndicate. Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin won the opportunity to challenge for the prestigious belts by settling their score with The Demand once and for all in a tornado six-man tag match.
This is the first time that The Hurt Syndicate have challenged for the Trios titles. However, Lashley and Joe have quite the history with one another. A good portion of that history is in TNA/Impact Wrestling where the two men were in a faction called The Beat Down Clan. It’s unknown if this will turn into a full blown feud, but if it did then it would be surprising if that’s never mentioned.
The AEW Trios Championships aren’t the only belts being defended.
Kazuchika Okada is coming off the losing end of his match against Brodido for the AEW World Tag Team titles. The arrogant Unified Champion blasted his partner Konosuke Takeshita with his rainmaker finisher, something he seemed quite proud of doing. Brody King and Bandido took advantage of that, with the ROH World Champion getting the win for his team. Now, Bandido has the chance to win a third AEW/ROH title as he’ll challenge Okada for the Unified title on Dynamite.
Also, AEW will finally reveal the brackets for the AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament. Tony Khan originally announced the new belts on the September 24th episode of Dynamite.
