Could The Righteous be the next group to join the WWE?
According to Fightful Select, Vinny and Dutch have told promoters that they were finishing up their remaining dates. This would strongly indicate that the former ROH World Tag Team Champions are WWE bound.
Now this doesn’t automatically mean that Vinny and Dutch are guaranteed to be going to WWE. The report doesn’t say the duo’s signed any contracts nor does it state that The Righteous and WWE are having deep talks at this period of time.
However, WWE has had their eye on Vinny and Dutch. The pair seemed to be on the verge of joining WWE in 2023 when they were called to tryout alongside KC Navarro and Kylie Rae. But then Vince McMahon returned and a hiring freeze prevented them from signing.
Originally members of the Ring of Honor brand before Tony Khan, The Righteous briefly left ROH for TNA/Impact Wrestling in 2021. The duo opted to leave TNA the following year and made their official return in 2023 at Supercard of Honor by confronting The Dark Order’s Evil Uno and Stu Grayson.
The duo were mainly featured on ROH. Vincent and Dutch were on AEW television here and there, but mainly as enhancement talent. The duo was embroiled in a feud with The Sons of Texas (Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes) for the ROH World Tag Team titles late last year, but once they failed to capture the ROH Tag Team titles then their appearances in ROH became sporadic .
They officially asked for their release in May 2025, with the duo’s exit confirmed when their profiles were taken off the ROH/AEW roster list. Vinny and Dutch have been keeping low on the independent scene ever since.
It would be cool to see The Righteous in WWE. They aren’t workhorses like The Young Bucks or Motor City Machine Guns, but they have strong characters who got over during their time in ROH. Vinny and Dutch have been silent for the most part, so it’s not clear why they asked for their AEW release, even though it seems fairly obvious on the surface.
Nevertheless, we’ll see how things look for the duo in the coming months. The Righteous would be a welcome addition to the tag team division that’s somewhat depleted on the developmental brand. WWE can certainly use some new fresh blood on their roster and The Righteous is the prefect act.
