Cody Shows Heel Tendencies As He Defeats Sonny Kiss To Retain The TNT Title At FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN

Sonny Kiss stepped up to answer the open challenge for Cody's TNT Championship at AEW Fight for The Fallen, and came up short despite a great effort.

The American Nightmare was very aggressive out of the gate, laying in stiff shots while not really taking his opponent very seriously. This led to a telling off from Arn Anderson, and The Granite Rose was able to capitalize on his opponent's apparent lack of focus.

Kiss threw Cody off his game and scored a few near falls, but in the end he fell victim to a scary looking CrossRhodes which kept him down for the 3-count.

The bigger story here may be Cody's heelish behavior. Even though he did show respect to Sonny after the win, he definitely played the bad guy during the bout, and this has led to speculation that we might see a turn at some point in the near future. Rhodes is arguably AEW's top babyface right now, so this would certainly be a risky move.
