Former Strikeforce and Bellator Heavyweight Champions will collide as Alistair Overeem (47 - 18, 1 NC) and Alexander Volkov (32 - 8) are set to fight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 184. Coming in, Overeem is coming off a pair of TKO’s (Walt Harris and Augusto Sakai) that has resulted in the former Strikeforce champion being ranked at No. 5 in the heavyweight division. Overeem has won four out of his last five fights.
Volkov is coming off an impressive TKO victory over Walt Harris and the former Bellator Heavyweight Champion is hoping to get his first pair of back-to-back wins since 2016. While the Russian has lost two of his last five fights, Volkov’s strong wins over Greg Hardy and Fabrício Werdum have placed him in the No. 6 spot in the division.
In the co-main event, former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar (13 - 2) and Cory Sandhagen (24 - 8 - 1) hope to be in line for a bantamweight title shot with a win tonight. Edgar is coming off a strong debut in the 135-pound division against Pedro Munhoz back in August.
After losing a contender’s fight to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250, Sandhagen bounced back in a big way with a TKO victory over Marlon Moraes back in October. Sandhagen has only lost one fight in the UFC thus far.
