A new heavyweight has joined the Bellator MMA roster.
Jose Augusto has officially signed a deal with the MMA promotion, though the exact details of his contract remain unknown. A purple belt in jiu-jitsu, the Bellator newcomer has been fighting professionally since 2012.
Augusto had a rocky beginning; however, since his stunning TKO win over Rodrigo Ro at Grand Fighting Championship 62, the Brazilian has managed to score three big wins following that match-up, with two victories coming by TKO and one by submission.
Augusto is a member of the Pitbull Brothers gym, which is owned by current Bellator Lightweight and Featherweight World Champion Patrício Freire and Patricky Freire. Coming in, Augusto is currently on a four-fight winning streak with his overall record being 6 wins and 2 losses. There’s no word on when he’ll make his Bellator debut.
Bellator MMA has been signing numerous fighters lately, with the most notable being LFA Featherweight Champion Justin Gonzales and former two-time M-1 Light Heavyweight Champion Viktor Nemkov. Augusto joins a stacked division featuring Josh Barnett, Fedor Emelianenko, Cheick Kongo, Roy Nelson, and the Bellator Heavyweight Champion Ryan Bader.
