Apparently, Conor McGregor now wants to fight Dustin Poirier.
In an out-of-nowhere move, the former two-division champion offered to fight former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier in a charity match that has nothing to do with the UFC.
Going back one week, there’s been some issues between Dana White and Conor McGregor after “Notorious” released a private conversation with the UFC President. Not surprisingly, White was not happy with what McGregor did and the two sides have been at odds since then.
McGregor looking to fight Poirier does come out of the blue as the 32-year-old previously shut down Poirier’s attempt at a rematch following his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. McGregor named The Good Fight Foundation as his charity of choice and the two sides seemed to agree on a potential fight down the line:
It’s highly unlike for a fight of this caliber to take place as Dana White will not release either Poirier or McGregor from their contracts for the exhibition match. The one thing that has been clear lately is that Conor McGregor is looking for a fight, and while he won’t get a crack at Justin Gaethje or Khabib Nurmagomedov anytime soon, the lightweight may end up coming out of “retirement” very soon.
