Former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson will get his first opportunity at the ONE Flyweight Championship, as the 35-year-old will take on Adriano Moraes in April. The news was revealed by ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong through Twitter:
Johnson has been on a roll since being traded to the Japanese promotion back in 2018. The former UFC Flyweight Champion is currently undefeated within the ONE banner, besting Yuya Wakamatsu, Tatsumitsu Wada, and Danny Kingad. His overall professional record is 30 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no contest.
This will be Moraes' first title defense here, as the Brazilian native is coming off his big victory over Geje Eustaquio at ONE Championship: Hero’s Ascent. Prior to his loss to Geje Eustaquio at ONE Championship: Pinnacle of Power, the 30-year-old was on a solid four-fight winning streak. Moraes’ professional record stands at 18 wins and 3 losses.
ONE Championship: Moraes vs. Johnson takes place on Saturday, April 11 from a location to be announced. The ONE Flyweight Championship match is set to headline the event.
