We’ll finally crown a new bantamweight champion on September 12 as Juan Archuleta and Patrick Mix will fight for the vacant belt at Bellator 246. Kyoji Horiguchi was forced to relinquish the Bellator Bantamweight title due to suffering a major injury that will force him to remain out of action for nearly a year.

Other than his loss to Patricio Freire, Archuleta has been dominant in his run in Bellator MMA thus far. The bantamweight has won six out of his seven Bellator fights, notably beating Robbie Peralta (via KO at Bellator 201), Ricky Bandejas (via unanimous decision at Bellator 214), and Eduardo Dantas (via KO at Bellator 222). Archuleta’s professional record currently stands at 24 wins and 2 losses.

Mix enters the championship match with some serious momentum on his side as the bantamweight is currently undefeated in his professional career. Mix has only had two fights in Bellator thus far, but his wins over Ricky Bandejas (via submission at Bellator 222) and Isaiah Chapman (via submission at Bellator 232) has gotten him the opportunity to challenge for the prestigious belt. Mix’s professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 0 losses.

Bellator 246 takes place on Saturday, September 12 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Bantamweight title match headlining the event.
