Steve Mowry is off the Bellator 242 card.

At this Friday’s event, the Bellator MMA heavyweight was set to fight Rudy Schaffroth in a preliminary bout; however, the 28-year-old revealed on his social media that he tested positive for the coronavirus:

Thus far, Mowry has yet to be defeated inside of the octagon as the professional fighter was coming off impressive victories over Darion Abbey (via submission at Bellator 215) and Gokhan Saricam (via submission at Bellator 231). The heavyweight also competed in Titan Fighting Championship, with his overall record currently standing at 7 wins and 0 losses.

Bellator MMA officials are reportedly seeking a replacement for Schaffroth; however, there’s no word on who could potentially face the heavyweight at the pay-per-view. Bellator 242 will take place on Friday, July 24 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Sergio Pettis vs. Ricky Bandejas headlining the event.
