The back-and-forth saga on whether Cris Cyborg wants to fight Amanda Nunes continues.

Previously, the UFC President claimed that he recently made Cyborg an offer to fight Amanda Nunes, but the former Featherweight champion freaked out and ultimately turned down the match-up. Cyborg would release a video response to Dana White's statement, calling the UFC President’s claim “bullshit” and that the only reason the fight hasn’t happened is due to the company wanting her to re-sign a deal first.

This Saturday, the Brazil native will return to the octagon against Felicia Spencer in her final contracted bout under the UFC banner, and Dana White has once again spoken about why the Nunes/Cyborg fight hasn’t taken place, implying that the former Featherweight Champion is afraid to take another loss (transcript courtesy of mmafighting.com):

“She wants Cyborg,” White said. “She wants the Cyborg fight. I don’t think Cyborg wants that fight. I think it’s pretty obvious why she wouldn’t want that fight: it’s not a good fight for her. It’s a bad fight for her, and I get it.”

White tries to clarify by saying that Cyborg isn’t afraid of fighting Nunes, just the notion that she’s going to lose again:

“I don’t think she’s afraid,” White said. “She’s been fighting for a long time and I think she’s at the point where she’s afraid to lose again. Losing again isn’t something she’s interested in. She doesn’t want to fight her. Amanda wants it, we want it, she doesn’t want it."

Cyborg has yet to respond to White’s latest claims. The former Featherweight Champion will face Felicia Spencer in the co-main event of UFC 240 this Saturday in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
