The situation regarding Cyborg, Amanda Nunes, and Dana White is now pushing the story in several different ways.
When Amanda Nunes shocked the world by defeating Cris Cyborg in 51 seconds to win the UFC Featherweight championship last December,
the former champion immediately stated that she wanted a rematch against the double champ; however, the UFC President didn’t seem keen on the idea at the time.
Cyborg has never shied away from the notion of wanting a rematch against Nunes, but with her last contracted bout against Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 coming up, it doesn’t appear we’ll get that rematch. The former featherweight champion has stated that she was most likely moving on from the UFC if it's not good for her to re-sign.
White recently addressed why a Cyborg/Nunes bout wasn’t booked and the UFC President made it clear that the former champ didn’t want a rematch against Nunes and freaked out over the notion of another one (transcript courtesy of

“I said that the other night and Cyborg goes crazy, whatever,” White said.
“You know, we offered that fight and Cyborg turned it down.”
Cyborg has now responded, and based off the video, the former featherweight champion is not only pissed over the story White is telling, but makes it clear that he’s feeding people lies:
“UFC never gonna give me the rematch if (I don’t) sign new deal,” Cyborg said.
“This is No. 1 bullshit.”
“If we are suppose to be business partners and building trust so that we can work towards a new deal let’s stop the lies,” Cyborg added in the tweet.
Cyborg recently spoke to MMA Fighting and stated that the promotion never offered any other match-up except for Spencer since her loss to Nunes in Las Vegas.
“It’s a business, so I’ll see what’s best for me,” Cyborg told MMA Fighting.
“If it’s good for me to re-sign with the UFC, I will. If it’s not, I won’t. This is business between two companies (UFC and Cyborg). We’ll see what happens.”
“Right now I’m focused on my next fight,” she continued.
“I’m not thinking about contracts, I’m not thinking about re-signing contracts, I’m not thinking about any of it. I’m only thinking about my next fight, the only fight that was offered (to me) after my last fight. Focusing on this one. One step at a time.”
