Once again, we have new IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions!
Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kota Ibushi have beaten the six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Guerillas of Destiny during the promotion’s New Japan Road show on Feb. 21.
While Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa started off 2020 as the champs, the duo suffered a setback by losing the belts to the 2019 World Tag League winners Juice Robinson and David Finlay at Wrestle Kingdom 14. However, it wouldn’t take the Bullet Club members long to regain the championships, as they defeated FinJuice during the New Beginning Show in Atlanta on Feb. 3.
The Golden Aces would see victory when Tanahashi got the three count after connecting with the High Fly Flow on Tonga. Ibushi and Tanahashi weren't able to celebrate too long as Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi attacked the champions.
For Tanahashi, this is his third title reign, as the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion previously held the belts with Shinsuke Nakamura and Yutaka Yoshie. This will be Ibushi's first reign as the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. The 37-year-old previously won the Junior Heavyweight belts with Kenny Omega.
