Yoshinobu Kanemaru will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has confirmed one-half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions injured his right knee and will be unable to compete at the upcoming live event in Kochi on November 5.

The scheduled match involving BUSHI, Shingo Takagi & Hiromu Takahashi taking on Minoru Suzuki, El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru is now BUSHI & Shingo Takagi vs. El Desperado & Minoru Suzuki. There is no word on how severe the veteran’s injury is.

Kanemaru has been a stable for New Japan Pro-Wrestling since their return in July, as the 44-year-old competed in the 2020 New Japan Cup, the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team title tournament, and the eight-team IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title Tournament.

With his partner El Desperado of Suzuki-gun, the duo beat BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi to win the vacant belts back at New Japan Road in September. We’ll keep you updated on this story when more news comes to light about Kanemaru’s injury.
