New Japan Pro-Wrestling has now confirmed the cancellation of their Madison Square Garden show.
Earlier today, the Japanese promotion revealed their annual round-robin style Best of the Super Juniors tournament was axed due to the coronavirus and now, so is their Wrestle Dynasty event that was set for August 22. The big show will now take place in 2021, though the company doesn’t give an exact date.
Fans can still sign up to the pre-sale list to be informed of the new date for Wrestle Dynasty the moment details are confirmed, and will still be able to get early access to tickets. If you are already registered, you do not need to register again.
This is another major blow for the company as New Japan has been forced to axe their Road To Wrestling Dontaku tour, the entire New Japan Cup tournament, Sakura Genesis, and their Anniversary show featuring a match between IWGP Heavyweight & Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi this year.
There’s still no word on when the promotion could run live events again; however, we’ll keep you updated with reports when more New Japan news comes out. In the meantime, if you’re longing for New Japan content then sign-up for The New Japan World subscription or check back on their Youtube channel on Monday’s where free matches are released.
