David Finlay promises he’ll take his crown in the 2025 G1 Climax.

Finlay’s track record certainly didn’t back that claim in the beginning because he was taking losses left and right. However, Finlay has been able to come back with some spectacular wins and Night Fifteen was no different.

His match against Yuya Uemura started off fast as the two NJPW stars brawled on the floor. Finlay got in control as they came back into the ring, with him putting on a simple headlock that kept Yuya grounded. Yuya fired up and got out of the headlock. He then made his comeback with a cross body, a couple of arm drags, and a dropkick. He got the first count after a back suplex. Yuya then sent Finlay out of the ring thanks to a clothesline.

But Finlay regained the advantage with a nasty  powerbomb to the ring post. As expected, Finlay worked on Yuya’s back. After several minutes, Yuya got in a cross arm breaker. Finlay got to the ropes with ease, but that allowed Yuya to hit a German suplex for a nearfall. Finlay came back with a backbreaker for a nearfall of his own.

Finlay then planted Yuya with a dominator. That still resulted in a two count. He tried to hit his finisher, Overkill, but Yuya reversed into two dragon legwhips and applied the cross armbreaker again. Finlay refused to tap. Yuya adjusted the maneuver to stop him from crawling to the ropes, but Finlay managed to do so anyway. Yuya then hit a double underhook suplex to keep him down.

That only lasted for a second as Finlay came back with a pop-up powerbomb for the nearfall. Yuya came back with a dragon suplex and then a frogsplash as the match was reaching the 22-minute mark. Gassed, both men traded forearm strikes. Yuya got the better of that exchange and set up for a Deadbolt, but Finlay knocked him for a loop thanks to a headbutt. Finlay then nailed two Overkills that resulted in the three count.

Elsewhere, EVIL took over the top spot thanks to his win over Hiroshi Tanahashi. Yota Tsuji clinched his spot in the top three following his win over Callum Newman.
