Gabe Kidd is out due to knee injury.

The IWGP Global Champion came out in crutches on the second night and revealed that he hyper-extended his knee. He doesn’t say when that happened, though Kidd did forfeit his G1 match against Zack Sabre Jr. However, Kidd isn’t out of the tournament just yet. The New Japan star made it clear that he still wanted to be in the tournament until he’s cleared to compete.

Elsewhere, Shingo Takagi is on a losing streak as the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion just dropped his second match in the G1 Climax. This time, the loss came at the hands of the Great-O-Khan, who had never beaten Takagi before their G1 encounter.

El Phantasmo and Konosuke Takeshita easily had the match of the night as the two men went out there and beat the crap out of each other. The final five minutes were especially exciting as it was move-after-move and counter-after-counter until Phantasmo nailed the double armed piledriver for the three count.

Taichi and Yuya Uemura headlined night two as the former desperately needed a win after losing to Hiroshi Tanahashi. The match started off fast with both men trading chops, and the first portion was Taichi and Yuya trading different mat holds. An armbreaker from Yuya changed the tide, but Yuya smartly went after Taichi’s leg that Tanahashi was working on in night one. Yuya got in a unique leg submission (similar to Jamie Noble’s Trailer Hitch submission), but Taichi broke out of it with Saito Suplex.

It was down the final stretch here, as both men traded superkicks and enzuigiris, but a devastating clothesline put Yuya down. Another superkick and the Black Mephisto (Air Raid Crash) kept Yuya down for the three count.
