Shingo Takagi is now a two-time NEVER Openweight Champion!

On Aug. 30, Suzuki effectively ended the title reign of the Los Ingobernables de Japon member in an unforgettable clash at the Summer Struggle event. During the G1 Climax, Takagi would avenge his loss a bit by beating the 52-year-old.

That win got Takagi another opportunity at the belt on Nov. 7 and the 37-year-old took full advantage of his title shot. As expected, this was a very stiff match between the two competitors and Suzuki showed his toughness by kicking out after three devastating clotheslines. In the end though, Takagi hit Last of the Dragon and got the three count.

This ended Suzuki’s 70-day reign as champion. Since winning the belt back in August, the NJPW veteran didn’t get a chance to defend the NEVER Openweight Championship due to his involvement with the G1 Climax.
