Saraya left WWE in 2022 and, cleared for in-ring competition, the former Divas Champion wasted no time in signing with AEW. Triple H had tried to bring her back into the fold, but Vince McMahon delayed matters and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Total Divas alum, who was better known as Paige in WWE, is expected to be freed from her AEW contract in September. Talking to WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T, Saraya made it clear that, on her end, the door is open to a WWE return.
"I love WWE, and I don’t have any negative feelings towards them. I mean, they raised me. They saved me a lot. I appreciate them so much," she started. "The idea of going somewhere else was only because the potential of my brother being there was a big thing. I just wanted him to be a success in wrestling, but I love WWE."
"I would absolutely, if there was something that they needed from me which was exciting, I would definitely go there. That would be silly not to, I feel, so yeah, if there’s an opportunity to do something fun, hell yeah. I’ll jump on board," Saraya teased.
Wrestling fans have been critical of how Saraya has been booked in AEW, particularly as she's yet to go one-on-one with Mercedes Mone. In WWE, Sasha Banks injured Paige during a house show, and it was that which led to her being sidelined with neck issues.
The story is already there for a huge program between the two women and, in a separate interview, Saraya admitted that she isn't sure about a match with Mone taking place in the near future.
"I don’t know. I mean, we both wanted to, so we were just waiting for that trigger to be pulled," she confirmed. "But I think she has other people that she has to wrestle for right now, so I don’t know when that time would be. Unfortunately, I may not be there to be able to do that with her."
"It should have happened a while ago, but it is what it is," Saraya added. "We wanted it, but it hasn’t been the right time, I guess."
At this point, it feels like the only way Saraya is staying in AEW is if Khan throws as much money at her as possible. However, most fans would surely agree that Paige would be wise to return to WWE where she can end her in-ring career on a high note.
