After Months Of Teasing A Breakup, WWE Has Quietly Disbanded This Heel Tag Team

WWE has been teasing issues between A-Town Down Under, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, for the better part of a year. For a time, all signs pointed to Theory turning babyface in what had the potential to be an entertaining feud for the longtime tag team partners.

Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon once had big plans for Theory. He was pushed as a top star, and even scored a win over John Cena at WrestleMania. However, things changed when Triple H took over and, after failing to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Seth Rollins for the United States Championship, Theory quickly fell down the card.

During last night's RAW, an unhappy New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) bumped into Waller backstage, and he casually mentioned that Theory is injured and "finally off his back."

After confirming that their partnership is over, Waller indicated that he'd like to ally with The New Day, a prospect neither seemed overly enthused by.

It's not clear whether Waller is really injured or this is for storyline purposes. Either way, it doesn't seem like there are plans for Theory to be pushed as the potential future WWE Champion he was perceived as by McMahon.

As a tag team, A-Town Down Under had some success, winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in a six-pack ladder match at WrestleMania 40.

Theory previously said this about his failed cash in attempt:

"I don't feel like there's ever a plan. To be honest with you, the only thing that I kind of knew that was going to be if you know a match you're going to have at a pay-per-view, if you're kind of on that road like Cena for example I knew we did the promo, so I know we're going to have the match."

"But honestly, like a lot of things, like, even when I had the US title the first time [shrugs], Money in the Bank [shrugs], second time US Title [shrugs], you know, it's just kind of seeing what rolls. And then at the same time too, with the briefcase, I was in such a tough spot, because Roman Reigns, the position he was in and where they were going with him."

"I would have loved to cash in on Roman, even if it was a failed attempt, I think that would have been cool because I would have never cashed in on the United States Championship."

Stay tuned for updates on Theory's WWE status as we have them.
