Maxxine Dupri has shockingly defeated Becky Lynch to win the Women's Intercontinental Championship, and due to the return of AJ Lee, nevertheless, who appears to be joining the team for WarGames, in a flurry of big news coming out of WWE Monday Night Raw on November 17, 2025!
How did this go down tonight, what led to this, and what could be on the horizon? Let's break it all down!
How We Got Here:
Over the past month or so, Maxxine Dupri scored a count-out victory over Becky Lynch on the October 6th episode of Raw. On October 20th, in her hometown of Sacramento, California, Dupri then scored a disqualification victory over Lynch. The story was put on hold for a few weeks with the idea that Dupri was training to make the most out of a rematch for the title, scheduled for tonight's episode.
Match Details:
Though Dupri said she would have to just have her match regardless of whether or not she was ready after training, it all worked out in the end, as she held her own against Lynch despite being at the clear disadvantage, given their two careers.
Ultimately, The Man was distracted from the noise of AJ Lee's entrance music, as Lee returned and threw Lynch off her game. Dupri was able to capitalize and scored a pinfall to nab the upset and snatch the title from the champion!
This is the first title victory for Maxxine Dupri and easily the biggest win of her career. As the third to hold the Women's Intercontinental Championship, she ends Becky's reign at 164 days, which surpassed the inaugural champion (Lyra Valkyria)'s record of 144.
Funny enough, this isn't the only women's title in WWE to change hands today, as Laynie Luck captured the WWE ID Women's Championship, which had previously been vacated by its inaugural champion, Kylie Rae, due to pregnancy before she was also released from her World Wrestling Entertainment contract.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
AJ Lee was obviously approached by Rhea Ripley to indicate how she will be on the WarGames team. I would assume Becky Lynch will do the same, but for the heels. As far as Dupri winning the title, that surprises me, as I just figured Lee would take the belt off Lynch instead. Now, I can only assume Dupri is holding it for a transitional reign and will drop it to someone like Roxanne Perez, who could go on to face Lee for the title at WrestleMania for a dream match between mentor and prodigy.
