AJ Styles. John Cena. One more time.
The fans seem to be getting their wish here. John Cena has been vocal about wanting to fight the former WWE Champion one more time. Mr. Cena took to Twitter this time calling out Styles and Triple H to give the fans what they want.
Styles didn’t hesitate to respond and accepted the match.
And Triple H quickly confirmed that AJ Styles vs. John Cena is set for Crown Jewel on October 11th.
Mr. Cena thanked Triple H for making things “flexible” for his WWE schedule.
“I want to thank @TripleH for being flexible here and rewarding the true driving force behind #CenavsStyles .. the FANS! 2 posts over 10m views and so many of you let yourself be heard! #WWECrownJewel Perth and @AJStylesOrg you will get my everything. Listening to our audience is ALWAYS what’s BEST for business! I am forever grateful to you all for choosing my next opponent. LFG!!,” John Cena wrote.
To recall, AJ Styles and John Cena had quite the rivalry in 2016. Styles found his footing in WWE when he turned heel and fought the former 17-time world champion. These two had an incredible match at Summerslam 2016, which catapulted Styles into the main event scene.
Styles and Cena had a rematch at the 2017 Royal Rumble where the latter won the WWE Championship off the 46-year-old. It’s been over five years since Styles and Cena had a one-on-one match against each other. In fact, the last time these two had a singles match was back on Smackdown in 2018.
Given the string of performances Cena had in his matches against Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul, it would be insane to think that this wouldn’t be a great match. A strong edition to the Crown Jewel card.
