Alexa Bliss Discusses Her Various Cosplay-Inspired Ring Attire; Promises Something New For WRESTLEMANIA 33
Current WWE Smackdown Women's Champ Alexa Bliss talks here about the comic book/pop culture-inspired outfits she often wears to the ring, and promises we'll see something new for WrestleMania tomorrow...
Since being called up from NXT to the main roster, Alexa Bliss had made quite a splash as a two-time Smackdown Women's Champion, and looks to further cement her legacy by successfully defending her title against (at least) four other Superstars tomorrow night at WrestleMania 33.
Bliss is known for incorporating various different characters' styles (Harley Quinn, Iron man, Freddy Krueger) into her ring-gear, and explains where this idea originated during an interview with IGN. She also reveals that fans will see something new if they tune into her match at Mania on Sunday:
"I'm very excited to because I've been doing a lot of cosplaying, and I have a little bit of something that I'm doing for WrestleMania, another character that I'm trying to, you know, put my spin on and portray. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun, and hopefully it's noticed.
[It all began] when I was paired with Blake and Murphy at NXT - it all started with the Iron Man gear that we did, the Iron Man-inspired gear. Murphy's idea was, hey, let's do Iron Man. And then when we came out with Iron Man gear, it was so much fun, and I was like, “Okay, what else can we do!?” We all kept throwing out ideas, and we did Freddy Krueger as a group. We had some other stuff in the works, like Suicide Squad-ish, but then when we were all separated when I was drafted. I was talking to Murphy and he was like, “Well, why don't you still do the Harley Quinn look that you wanted to do?” And I said, “Oh, I don't know. I don't know if I can do that…” He told me, “No, you should totally do it,” and he helped me with the pose. He actually helped me with this pose that I now use for the title, and I used with the tutu, and it's been a lot of fun."
Bliss also says that she found the transition from bubbly babyface to sneering heel more difficult that people might imagine - but working with Blake and Murphy helped bring out her inner bad guy.
