Like most WWE Superstars, Alexa Bliss has had several personas over the years. She was a "Goddess" at the height of her main roster run, and later stole the show during the company's pandemic era as the twisted ally of Bray Wyatt/The Fiend known as "Playground Alexa."
During a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famers Nikki and Brie Bella, Bliss reflected on being a Goddess and opened up on how working with Wyatt, who passed away in 2023, changed her for the better.
"When I was doing the Goddess persona, that was very much just like people I went to high school with," she explained. "When I started working with Windham, it was like, 'Oh, so there needs to be research that goes into this.'"
"He immediately, when I was joining his inner world of the Wyatts, was like, 'Alright, you need to watch this documentary. Watch this documentary. Watch this movie. Watch this, research this.' And because he had put so much into his character, it made me feel like, 'Okay, I’m going into your world and I can’t be the one to mess it up.'"
That collaboration led to the introduction of her doll, Lily, and a creepy new character that WWE was able to get creative with at a time when crowds weren't able to attend shows. For Bliss, it presented her with the opportunity to take a deep dive into real-world psychology.
"That was a character that was based on, you know, a traumatic event when I got attacked by the Fiend," Bliss shared. "What happens a lot of times, when people go through a traumatic instances, they kind of revert back into a child-like mind state."
"So that was kind of what I took from that into the playground Alexa character with Lily and with the pigtails and with the overalls, turning into playground Alexa was the coping mechanism," she concluded.
While Bliss still carries Lily to the ring with her, there's been nothing to suggest that she'll be allied with The Wyatt Sicks. Instead, she's recently formed a tag team with Charlotte Flair.
We'll have to wait and see what becomes of Bliss' alliance with Flair, as they'll challenge for the Women's Tag Team Championships at the upcoming Evolution 2 PLE. It feels like their team-up will be short-lived, but if they strike a chord with fans, then the tag team division might have added its most formidable new pairing.
