WWE attempted to freshen up The Street Profits last year with a heel turn. They eventually regained the WWE Tag Team Championships, but we haven't seen much of them on SmackDown since they dropped the titles to The Wyatt Sicks' Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy.
There had been speculation about Montez Ford joining The Vision, but we now have an update on him and Angelo Dawkins in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
"Neither of the Street Profits [is] hurt," Dave Meltzer writes. "The decision was just made to take them off TV to allow them to freshen up."
So, another repackage? It does feel their current gimmick has run its course, and, at this stage, it might not be the worst idea to see what Ford and Dawkins can do as singles wrestlers.
On this past Friday's episode of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair returned to the blue brand after being absent last week. Much has been said about why The Queen wasn't on the show, but as she was wrestling on Friday night, it's clear that speculation about an injury was incorrect.
In fact, the storyline explanation that she was sick was the real explanation. "Flair missed SmackDown this week and was said on television to be sick. That was legit. It was described to us as she was very ill this past week, which led to a change in television," Meltzer notes.
Over to RAW and Rey Mysterio now, and despite being heavily involved with The Vision storyline in recent weeks, the leader of the Latino World Order is currently resting up due to a minor injury.
According to Meltzer, "Rey Mysterio missed RAW this week due to a minor injury, but he’ll be back quickly."
Finally, we have news on a big return. The Royal Rumble is fast approaching, and the hope is that former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will be part of it. Fortunately, it seems that's the case; however, those of you hoping to see him win the 30-man match in his quest to regain his title may end up disappointed.
"We were told that Reigns will be the odd man out of the WWE title picture. He is scheduled to return at the Rumble, and one would expect his direction to be clearer there," Meltzer explains after recently reporting that Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes III is no longer planned for WrestleMania.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
