Remember Omos?
He’s the 7’3 guy that has seemingly disappeared off the face of the Earth. Well, maybe just in WWE. Point is, Omos hasn’t wrestled since the 2024 Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Maybe he’ll get lucky and be in the 2025 Battle Royal on Smackdown. Nevertheless, the former WWE Tag Team Champion has reportedly been the victim of the company simply not having any creative plans for the guy.
Sadly, that hasn’t changed, as Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp clarifies that Omos is perfectly healthy and ready to come in at any moment. The issue lies with creative and Triple H, who don't seem to have anything for him.
It’s strange as Omos was getting some nice buzz during his time in Pro Wrestling NOAH in January. To recall, Omos did an excursion to the Japanese company and won the GHC Tag Team Titles with Jack Morris! It was a smart way of allowing Omos to work more matches and learn outside of the performance center. However, his run was cut short when Omos abruptly vacated the belts 24 days into his title run. Omos stated that he was returning back to WWE, with the assumption that the big man would make his comeback during the Royal Rumble match. That never happened. And Omos has been off the grid since.
The good news is that if Omos wanted to go back to Pro-Wrestling NOAH then he could as the company reportedly said that the 30-year-old made a good impression overall and would be happy to work with him again.
This isn’t the first time a talent has been sitting on the sidelines in WWE. The same thing happened in the past with JTG (former Cryme Tyme) and The Colons before their releases. Given that Omos has survived the last couple of WWE cuts, it’s clear that the company sees value in him, but it’s a head scratcher that they can’t seem to come up with something to do with Omos. The former WWE Tag Team Champion wasn’t taken off of television due to injury. Nor has there been any reported heat on Omos that would warrant such a lengthy time off of television.
Perhaps everything will change once WrestleMania season is over. Only time will tell. Either way, the strange saga of Omos and WWE continues in the meantime.
