Becky Lynch has won back the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship from Maxxine Dupri on the January 5, 2026 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw.

Let's break down what happened and what might be the booking philosophy behind this title change.

How We Got Here:

Becky Lynch lost a non-title match to Maxxine Dupri on the October 6, 2025 episode of Raw. A few weeks later on October 20th, Dupri got another win over Lynch by disqualification, earning her a better shot at the title. After some time training, Dupri challenged Lynch on November 17th, winning the title from The Man.

Over the past two months, Lynch has been upset over the title change and adamant that she would win it back.

Match Details:

Strangely, right before this match took place, Ivy Nile was in a backstage segment where she said that she wasn't going to the back of the line, implying that she would get another shot for this title after having already lost to Dupri (and not really having any momentum for that title opportunity in the first place). However, instead of setting up Dupri to face her as another easy win, it is now The Man back on top of the division.

Lynch was able to pick up the victory by cheating, though, holding the ropes on a pinfall after rolling Dupri backward while stuck in an ankle lock.

Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:

I expect Lynch to drop the title to AJ Lee at Elimination Chamber, which is taking place in Chicago. Lee will then go into WrestleMania as champion to face either Liv Morgan or Roxanne Perez, with the latter likely winning the title. There's a chance Lynch ends up facing Lee at WrestleMania instead of Elimination Chamber, if WWE wants to try to go in that direction to milk that as a bigger match (and to make sure Lynch gets on the Mania card), but I do think it's ultimately heading toward Lee and then Perez.
