How does Baron Corbin feel about John Cena using End of Days?

This past Sunday, John Cena and Logan Paul went nearly 30 minutes in a highly praised match that saw plenty of twists and turns. Some of those twists included some ghosts of Cena’s past; most notably, Cena using the End of Days to get a strong nearfall against Paul.

Cena and Baron Corbin weren’t strong rivals, but these two did have a match against one another at Summerslam 2017. That End of Days was a brief call back to their short feud throughout the Summer.

The former Corbin (who goes by Bishop Dyer now) was on  In The Weeds with Jeremy Lambert & SP3 and was asked about Cena using End of Days.

“It was funny because I wasn’t watching at the time. I looked at my phone and there were 900 Twitter notifications. I’m like, ‘Uh oh, what did I do? Someone hacked my pictures? Let’s see.’ I got on and saw that. That is so cool that he did it. I had no idea it was happening. That’s John for you. He is going to pay his respects to you in a kind of the most backhanded way, where you either notice because you’re paying attention, or you don’t notice at all.

He did a whole thing where it was a thank you to all his friends, and none of them have noticed it yet. When they do, it’ll be epic. He is very good and sneaky with that stuff. His interview after where he’s like, ‘I don’t get to wrestle all the people who have impacted me or my career, so this is my way of saying thank you.’ I thought that was pretty cool because John and I are pretty tight."

Dyer continued to talk about Cena’s impact throughout his career and advice he’s given him along the way.

“He’s helped me immensely through my entire career with advice and times where you’re frustrated and going, ‘I need to chill out because I’m losing my mind.’ He’ll go, ‘Let’s go grab dinner and chat about it. You’re in too deep. You’re too close. Back out. Realize this is a job and a character. Don’t let it affect you right now in this moment. You can think about things and work creatively, but don’t let those frustrations carry over to your life. Learn to separate.’ He’s very good with that. A great person to sit and chat with about ideas or bounce things off or structure.

I’ll still chat with him about stuff I’m doing now with MLW and my character and what I’m trying to convey to the audience. He always does a good job with helping break it down. ‘Give it to me in one sentence.’ It’s really neat to have him give me a nod, especially in Paris, where that kind of started my whole babyface run, where they lost their minds for no reason for me. I was shocked and awed. I was getting videos from people who were there in Paris, and when he hit it, the crowd was chanting ‘Baron Corbin.’ That’s just cool. It makes you feel good.”

These days, Dyer is fighting down in Major League Wrestling. In fact, he’s currently the MLW World Tag Team Champion with Donovan Dijak. It’s cool to see that Corbin made a lasting impression on one of the top stars of the WWE.
