Bret Hart Calls Triple H "Phony" And Feels That He's Never Earned The Position That He's In

The WWE Hall of Famer has never been a man to mince his words when it comes to certain superstars and Bret Hart didn't hold back in his latest interview by calling Triple H a "phony"

Bret Hart is not a big fan of Triple H.

The former WWE Champion has never been a man to mince his words. He isn’t shy about trashing Goldberg and has criticized Vince McMahon on numerous occasions. But there was one person (other than Goldberg) that Hart has consistently bashed - Triple H.

Everyone remembers the viral moment of Bret Hart rolling his eyes at Triple H when he came on stage at WrestleMania 41. But the WWE Hall of Famer’s beef with Triple H has spanned throughout the years.

So it’s no surprise that Bret’s latest jab against the WWE COO is that the only reason Triple H made it as far as he did was due to him marrying the boss’s daughter.

“I’m not sure where I stand with Triple H. Just being honest, I never rated him. Everything he’s done and created, it’s all stuff he wrote out for himself.”  He told Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes. “I wish I could have sat back in 1992 and said, ‘this is what Im going to do for the next ten years. ‘I’m going to win every title and I’m going to be champion 55 times or 500 times.’ I think Triple H is a phony in the sense that he never earned it and he never deserved it. He married the boss’s daughter [Stephanie McMahon].

But Bret goes even deeper with his criticism on Triple H stating that he had no respect for the former multi-time world champion.

I wish he had been in the dressing room when I knocked Vince out. I wish that it had happened and he was in the dressing room because he might not be married to Stephanie anymore, or it might not have ever happened. There was so much anger, and Triple H was such a slimeball back in 1997. He was a guy that I had very little respect for.”

Bret Hart continued further by trashing Triple H’s in-ring skills. Hart stated that he’s “never seen a great Triple H match”

“I never rated him. I don’t — you guys tell me — there’s not one match I ever watched of Triple H’s with anybody that I ever thought like, ‘Oh, that’s a great match.'” He continued, “I never ever wanted to wrestle him. I always look at every wrestler and go, ‘I could do this with that guy, and I could do this with that guy.’ But with Triple H, it was always just a match. Nothing special ever came to my mind.”

Whether you’re a fan of Triple H or not, the guy does have plenty of great matches on his resume. But I’m not Bret Hart, so perhaps he has a different criteria on what great wrestling matches should be. One thing’s for sure, don’t expect Hart to be back on WWE television anytime soon.
