During Friday night's episode of AEW Rampage, CM Punk is expected to make his in-ring return in front of his hometown Chicago crowd. It promises to be an amazing moment for pro wrestling fans, especially those who have been dying to see the Best in the World step back into the ring since he walked away from WWE following 2014's Royal Rumble PPV.
Now, Punk appears to have dropped another hint that he's returning with a cryptic Instagram post.
After making that "All Elite" reference during commentary for a recent CFFC fight, Punk shared the numbers 05, 11, and 21 in an Instagram Story that's left fans buzzing.
2005 and 2011 are considered two of Punk's hottest years in the wrestling industry; the first was with Ring of Honor, while the second was in WWE when he debuted his "Cult of Personality" theme and became the biggest star in the business (whether WWE liked it or not).
It's also worth noting that Punk signed with WWE in 2005, re-signed with them in 2011, and now looks set to sign with AEW in 2021. With that in mind, we can't help but wonder whether we're now in store for another "Summer of Punk," this time in a company that's nipping at WWE's heels.
Needless to say, we'll keep you guys updated as we learn more...
